Himeji port

Outline

Himeji Port is one of the Specially Designated Major Ports, located near the center of Harima Sea in the eastern part of the Seto Inland Sea. Various industries such as steel, metal, and chemical are situated in the region, and the port has played a core role in Harima Coast Industrial Zone together with its adjacent Higashi Harima Port. Moreover, electric generation plants and LNG bases are also located in the port area, and make it an important base for energy supply in Kinki region. The port also supports reverse logistics of products and materials which have been distributed in the process of active recycling by some factories.

History of Development and Usage

1965 Himeji lumber yard was completed.
West Industrial Zone and East Industrial Zone of the port were opened.
1967 Himeji lumber yard was completed.

1974 Himeji lumber yard was completed.
West Industrial Zone and East Industrial Zone of the port were opened.
1985 Aboshi Seafront Bridge was opened.
1989 A passenger terminal and Shikamatsu Seafront Park was opened.
1990 Designated a port of importation for designated quarantine items.
1992 Designated an animal quarantine port.
2000 Himeji Minato Dome was opened.
Hirohata District Multi-purpose International Terminal was opened.
2003 Designated agRecycle Porth.
